ABOUT

_DSC2580.JPG

My name is Stephanie Mikalishen-Deol. I live in the city I love, Prince George, with my husband, Sunny, and our two fur babies, Trip and Daisy. I have always been passionate about local politics and making a difference in the wonderful community in which we live. I am passionate about  children and youth, mental health, women in leadership, the outdoors and life in Northern BC - making it the best possible place to be.

I grew up in Prince George, where I graduated from Kelly Road. Growing up in School district 57, I feel like I have an in depth understanding of what students are experiencing from their perspective.

Upon graduating with my Bachelor's Degree, I instantly returned to PG. I have worked with the YMCA of Northern BC for 10 years, currently working as the Manager of Philanthropy, Marketing and Camps - providing outdoor learning opportunities, building partnerships and working with our community to raise funds for YMCA Strong Kids.

During my time with the Y, I have worked with many youth programs, initiatives and events, including YMCA Camp Kanannaq, the YMCA Aurora Leadership Program, YMCA Beyond the Bell, the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, Foundry Prince George, National Child Day, YMCA Healthy Kids Day, the YMCA Road Race and Colour Run, the Fun City Sliders and most recently the Movie in the Park.

For the past six years I have been a proud member of the BC Camps Association - the governing body responsible for safe and quality summer camps across the province of BC, including accreditation. During this time I served as both secretary, treasurer and most recently over the past two years, President. The BCCA holds a special place in my heart knowing we are assuring children are having the safest and highest quality camp experiences possible.

I have a been blessed with a heart for children and youth. This passion drives my professional work through philanthropy and camping.

When I am not working for the YMCA, you will find me at community events, traveling, volunteering at local youth organizations, teaching kick boxing at PG Functional Fitness, or enjoying the beautiful outdoors with hiking, kayaking, and boating!
